Feb 2000 – Present Computer Engineer

Software Engineering Services, Inc, Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, VA 

Provide presentations to user groups and configuration control board on the impact of NMCI on the development and deployment efforts of Standard Labor Data Collection and Distribution Application (SLDCADA).  Responsible for the design, development and deployment of a secure data transfer system for distributed processing centers.  The system has a web and host based user interface.  This system in full production moves approximately 30GB data per day between processing centers in Mechanicsburg PA, San Diego CA, and Yorktown VA. Responsible for the design, development and deployment of an operation scheduling and execution web based system.  Provide Information Assurance support for the SLDCADA.  Provide System Administration support for the test and development systems at the Yorktown Facility.  Develop system scripts to monitor system resources and connections.  Developed an Oracle trace file filter system that pulls out connection data to include encryption algorithm and client/server information.  The summarized data is provided in human readable form for reporting purposes.  Responsible for the system administration of over 40 systems at the Yorktown facility, and over 25 systems at the DISA DECC Mechanicsburg and San Diego facilities.  Develop hardware requirements for the SLDCADA central design agency (CDA).  Provide interface between SLDCADA CDA and the Navy and Marine Corp Intranet (NMCI) Information Strike Force (ISF).

Responsible for the designed, development and deployment of an accounting package designed to use labor data and provide cost data for billing. This web deployed application employed Oracle Developer 2000 forms and reports as well as JavaScript, PL/SQL script and perl applications. Responsible for the design, development and deployment of the World Wide Web applications, which employed a true multi tier, thin client design that employed transaction processing for installations of 10,000 plus users each. Developed web applications that employed the use of Servlets on the server (middle tier) and JavaScript on the client with a SYBASE database on the backend. Responsible for configuration management of 30 Sun SparcCenter 2000 or Ultra Enterprise computer systems at 22 sites nationwide. Prepared hardware and software configuration specifications for Sun Microsystems Enterprise Family of systems. Performed new system installation of Sun Ultra Enterprise servers. Perform SYBASE System 10 to System 11 migration. Design and implement test environment for Year 2000 compliance testing. Design, develop, and maintain applications to automate the configuration management process using C, SYBASE SQL, UNIX scripting languages and where appropriate Microsoft Access database applications. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of a data center with over 1000 users and over a $100 million in hardware/software assets. During deployment to Gulf war, at peak operating tempo, managed 42 data processing technical people, as well as 70 fire, rescue and engineering personnel, responsible for their training and the safety and material condition of the aft 1/3 of the ship. Designed and supervised the conversion of a stand alone computer MILVAN complex into a network compatible facility, which provided parallel and backup processing capabilities, ensuring continued uninterrupted service during critical ship overhaul period. Designed and implemented many databases and supporting C and Clipper applications for operational analysis. Managed software development projects and employed project planning techniques to reduce risk in meeting time critical milestones.
