Safe Computing

One key philosophy at SES, Inc. is to encourage “safe computing” practices whenever possible.  This is important for maintaining the confidential nature of your business.  In the interest of “safe computing”, there are several tasks that must be completed on all computers to ensure a more trouble free computing environment.

:   Anti-Virus & Firewall software should always be running and updates checked frequently. All files should be scanned for viruses before opening. Also, a full system scan, conducted in “Safe Mode” is recommended monthly.

:   Backups on essential programs with built in back-up systems should be completed daily to ensure accurate data is available should errors occur, and complete system backups should be conducted monthly.

:   At the end of the day, peripheral items, such as monitor & speaker, should be shut-down.  All running programs should also be closed before leaving computer unattended. Computers with backup batteries and surge protectors can be left on safely.

:   Procedures should be readily available for sharing files, transferring data or other activities needing precise execution.
